This stunning 1996 Hemisphere Bag by Wendy Stevens has a curious story.
Wendy, a visionary self-taught metal artist, broke into the fashion world with her unique creations. This satin-metal beauty is a prime example of her innovative spirit. Working as a bartender in Tribeca in the 80s she recalls women constantly asking her to store their enormous purses behind her bar so they could dance. Stevens thought, “how practical it would be to have a small, durable bag that would just hold a card, some change and a lipstick for going out. That was the birth of her first sheet metal bag. It’s truly a piece born from passion and ingenuity.
